Ben joined the team in January of 2014, still in the middle of a career that has already seen him represent the United States on three World Championship teams (track, cross country and the half marathon). His range sets him apart as one of the most well-rounded distance runners in the U.S., having run 8:19 for the steeplechase and 1:02:28 for the half marathon. His 2014 included five Rock 'n' Roll Marathon wins, a feat that garnered him attention throughout the running world, crossing over into the masses. Ben kicked off 2016 with a PR of 1:02:28 in the half marathon, which qualified him for the 2016 World Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff, Whales.
A force on the track, the roads and cross country, Ben has been runner-up in the Steeplechase at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships (2010), in the 3k at the USA Indoor Championships (2013) and in the 5k at the USA Road Championships (2010). He was fourth at the 2010 USA Cross Country Championships, which earned him a trip to represent the U.S. in Bydgoszcz, Poland at the World Championships. He also ran the World Half Marathon Championships later that year in Nanning, China and the World Track and Field Championships the following year in Daegu, South Korea. He will compete at the 2016 World Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff, Whales.
Ben ran collegiately at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in his home state of California. There he was a two-time NCAA All American in the steeplechase with a personal best of 8:33.70. His 13:40.9 best at 5,000 meters remains a school record.
