I loved the original Bondi and Bondi 2. I never tried the Bondi 3, and absolutely hated the Bondi 4. The 4 had way too much of a heel bevel on it, which for me is problematic as I am a fairly heavy heel striker. The 5 has addressed this issue nicely, as well as vastly improved the overall fit and performance- it no longer feels a bit narrow on my average width foot. As usual, the cushioning and comfort are perfect for all of my road running, regardless of time or distance.

I'm 6'2" 255 and have had 4 lower back operations. I'm very active but need a cushioned shoe to help with my back and have a bad knee. The Bondi 5 is my 6th pair of Hoka's and these are by far the best that I've had. After reading some reviews that may not have been so positive, I understand that all of our feet are different and won't have the same results as others. For me, I'm looking forward to another color already. The cushion and comfort are 2nd to none. The upper is soft, comfortable, and breathable like the Valor, with the lower of the Bondi. In my opinion, they've taken the best of 2 worlds to come up with the Bondi 5. I would take all comments with a grain of salt and give them a shot and form your own opinion. Good luck!

It's amazing how many different feedback comments there are that are so different. Some love these while others hate them. Good thing you can try them out and return them within 30 days and it costs you nothing. Good job Hoka! For me they are great! Love my Bondi 4's, but these better. Love the bright orange colored ones. This for me is one of the big improvements over the Bondi 4. I would even suggest more wild colors. The shoe at first seems a little stiff, but after a few runs it softens down. It also feels more stable than my 4's which is a good thing because I tend to over pronate a little. The balance between stability and cushioning is tricky, but I think Hoka has nailed it in the Bondi 5. Thank you Hoka for helping us old guys run and compete with virtually no knee or back pain!

I have worn all Bondi versions and this (5) is the best, so far. Very comfortable, yet they don't feel heavy.
I like the lacing style and appreciate the wide toe box. This style of shoe has kept me running after a recent hip injury and surgery. Thank you Hoka!

I initially loved the cushioning on these, they felt really high though, almost like platform shoes. The support was basically non-existent on these shoes and I rolled my ankle really bad the 3rd time I wore them. I probably should have bought a more supportive shoe, but unless you have ankles of steel or are a smaller guy I wouldn't recommend these shoes. I am 6'3" 245 and would never buy these shoes again.

I have excessively wide feet die to bunions. The Bondi 4 worked well for me, but this shoe feels totally different and not as wide. My first 15 miler in the shoes, after 7 miles I had severe foot pain. Tried again for 5 miles. They are clearly pinching my feet where the Bondi 4 did not. May send them back.

          Not a better Bondi.

          By

          from Florida

I have had the Bondi 2, 3, and 4. The best was the original Hoka Bondi 2 and all 3 other Bondis have been made by Deckers and all have had big problems. No padding, too narrow and all with firmer midsoles. The Bondi 5 may be the worst yet. The main problem is the inflexible Hoka needs a rocker to move you forward and there is no rocker in the new Bondi 5? This puts enormous stress on the ankle if you have high arches causing the new rigid tongue to cut into the ankle. Do anyone oversee these changes when there are made? I am so disappointed in this company.

Been a fan since 2010. 1st pair were the Stinson combo XT. It feels that Hoka keeps tweaking and messing with a god thing. Although they have made some major improvements to the upper and overall durability of the midsole. The Bondi and most of the the new line up seems to be lacking that cloud like feeling the first renditions of the Hoka shoes provided to the masses and put them on the map. The closest I've gotten to this cloud like feel is putting an old retired pair into the Drier on high heat for 30 min and immediately trying them on (highly recommend trying this to see the difference). Only then, do the shoes feel like the first models put out to the market. Too much RMAT! Only request to Hoka is to bring that marshmallow feeling back. A throwback to one of the first models would be well accepted. Thanks for helping us run Hoka.

After 9 years of treadmill use prescribed by my cardiologist after a triple bypass, I began to experience knee pain. Fortunately a local shop introduced me to Hoka. I purchased 2 pairs of Clifton 3's from them and then found Bondi 5 on this website and bought a pair. My other pairs in the treadmill rotation are Saucony and Adidas into both of which I installed good quality heel pads but they don't compare with the Clifton 3's and nowhere near the Bondi 5.

It is unfortunate that Hoka will not make additional colors and models available in a wide. Apparently people with wide feet prefer only Grey and Black shoes. This is a great shoe and I began with the 4 the moment Hoka introduced a wide option bit it too had only select colors available. I do highly recommend the shoe and have worn it on runs longer than 50 miles without issue. It seems to be holding up to non-technical trail runs with limited signs of wear
