Comments about Conquest 2:

I am a veteran marathoner of 40 marathons and ultra marathons. Since I train daily (five miles/day), I think that good shoes are a good and necessary investment. No question these shoes fit my feet and give me the cushion I need for my daily workouts. I run daily regardless of the weather, and YakTrax Pro work very well on these shoes for snow and ice running. Very stable, like running on dry pavement. I love that these shoes don't squeeze my wide (EEE) and high-arched feet. I am a supinator, and it's hard to find shoes that really feel stable, and these shoes are the best and most stable I've ever had. They also have great cushion. I used full air-soled shoes for many years, and was cautious about this shoe, but I love the cushion they provide for sidewalk and street running. This is my second pair. The first pair, Conquest 1, had a tongue that was sewn down, and therefore did not move around. It was very easy to get on and off. My second pair, the Conquest 2, do not have this feature. These shoes are difficult to get on because the tongue wants to slide down into the shoe, so you have to grab it with one hand and pull on the heel loop to get it on. I liked the pull laces on the Conquest 1 as they didn't come untied. The regular laces on the Conquest 2 seem to come loose after a while no matter what special knots I apply. Overall, I liked the Conquest 1 better because of the tongue, but the fit seems to be the same (I got the same size), the cushion is the same awesomeness, and I still give the shoes a good rating (4 stars), missing a top rating only because of the tongue design problem.

Comments about Conquest 2:

I am an ultramarathon runner. I have had 4 pairs of the Conquest (first original model) which I loved for long distance. I bought the Conquest 2 and there is no question that the new model is a downgrade from the original. First they are too narrow. If you have normal to wide feet, you need to get 1/2 number larger than your regular size (I needed to return the first pair that I ordered with the same size I used with the previous model). I ordered 1/2 a size larger, and they fit better. I decided to give them a try and I ran 13 miles with them. Overall I felt them comfortable; however the tongues folded and ran down the laces which was uncomfortable /this issue never happened with the original Conquest model). Second, the original Conquest model had the option of the pull laces, which I loved (I know a lot of people didn't like the pull laces, but at least you had the option of using regular laces or pull laces but in the Conquest 2, you don't have the option unless you buy pull laces separately somewhere else). Third, the fabric was much breathable and resistant on the previous model. In resume, Hoke One One didn't make a good decision about the Conquest 2. Th original Conquest where much better than the Conquest 2. I hope they will correct all this issues for the Conquest 3. I wish the origial Conquest would be still available. Remember if you decide to buy the Conquest 2 get at least a 1/2 number larger than your regular size.

Comments about Conquest 2:

Well the fit is not as good as original but the cushion appears the same. I needed to get new socks and use bandaids to cushion the heal which rubs.

I like these alot. At first I eas concerned they would be too "cushiony" (I know this is not a real word), but my feet really feel supported and in no pain afetr a run. With other brands sometimes the ball joint of my foot or my achilles would hurt after a long run. SO far, I am loving these.

      Comments about Conquest 2:

After going through treatment for 4th stage Non Hodgkin's lymphoma last year. Then being in an accident where I broke 5 bones in my left foot during treatment and not being a candidate for surgery due to my very low white blood cell count, I am very thankful just to be back out on the roads and in the gym!
I am 65 years old and spent 40 plus of those years in the athletic footwear and apparel industry so when I started to try to get back out on the road I tried one after another of the styles being marketed by my old stand by brands and some that I had never used before to get the best cushioning and fit. Hoka One One was new to me. The Conquest wasn't perfect, but it was the best so far. Today I have settled on the Bondi 4.It's the best overall shoe I have ever used. I would have said this about the Conquest 2 if I had not tried the Bondi. I have just ordered a pair of Constant to work in because of the lateral support and the promise of that great Hoka cushioning. I'll be reviewing it soon.
Hokas have a unique fit and I suggest finding a store where you can try on several pair. After deciding on one I would order them online where you'll get the best warranty. And talk to the folks at Hoka because they know their shoes better than anyone and they are very pleasant,

      Comments about Conquest 2:

Replace the laces - the stock laces require double knotting to prevent untying. during an 18 mile run needed to stop three time to retie - even after double knotting.

If you have high arches - replace the insoles with over the counter supports/orthotics that match your feet.

Other than these two items - Great Shoe

      Comments about Conquest 2:

Another very good shoe by Hoka. A bit "tighter" and perhaps less forgiving than other models, but it loosens after several uses and provides excellent traction and the unequaled balance and leg support customary of Hoka shoes. My one concern with Hoka is that the tongues on the shoes may benefit from better design - in my experience the tongue either folds onto itself (which is uncomfortable and requires tinkering in a run) or in this particular case, the tongue rides down the laces as you run - not cool.

Still, an excellent shoe that is fit for long mileage and a great ride.

      Comments about Conquest 2:

I'm 185 lbs and pronate so I use orthotics. These were my first Hoka's and I put about 120 miles on them before retiring them to walking shoes. I have run 2-10k's and a 10 miler on them. Hoka One One describes the RMAT sole as responsive, I would say they are a very firm sole that requires strong legs and more experience running physiology to appreciate them. Out-soles - the reinforced rubber pods wear quickly, if you heel strike, the aft pod will not last very long. I learned to mid-foot strike in these and wore down the front pod along with the rest of the exposed mid-sole (RMAT).(Wore down meaning the artwork is completely worn off.) I think a lot of the wearing out, is the shoe has poor traction, many of the trails here are asphalt/dirt, so I had issues with the shoe not gripping very well on downhill, lots of sliding on landings. Upper - this is the best fitting Hoka I have, next to the Bondi 4, the color's are awesome and I love to wear these to work on Fridays. Summary - These shoes served me well to train me to run properly, but the firmness of the sole is really not for me.
