Newcomer to Hoka.. I wore New Balance, Saucony and Brooks mostly but heard so many great things about this brand, I had to give them a try. When I finally did, I found my new go-to shoe for mid distance and marathon training. They're light, cushioned, supportive and fast. What more can you ask for?!? They've held up very well too, I have about 175miles on them and they're still going strong.

Only gripe I have is that they're slightly too narrow, I had to switch out the insole because my inside forefoot was pinching on the side. I'd like to see a slightly wider forefoot, and they'd be absolutely perfect. Thanks Hoka!

I hate to complain and lobby while giving a review but I can't help it. Hoka, PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL. I MISS my original Hoka Clifton SO BAD. The Clifton 2 was heavier, to narrow in the tow box, worst of all, didn't have an achilles V cut out on the back, and I got a blister on my big tow for whatever reason. Clifton 3 did have better wear on the bottom and a better tow box than the 2 but NOTHING compares to the Clifton 1, the LIGHTEST, two insert foot pads, best tow box, AWESOME shoe tongue, V cut out for your achilles tendon, etc. The ONLY thing is put that last black piece of better wearing material on the bottom of the shoe (up front) and go with it...STOP worrying about "newness" all the time and go back to what works and I will BUY them forever!!! And 1/2 my high school and middle school cross country and track teams will too!! PLEASE

After only a couple of runs, this is one of my favorite shoes. It has the support exactly where I want it. As I usually run between 3-6 miles, it's light enough and just enough cushioning. Only need to test it on the hills we run on.

Change for the sake of change?

I train and race long course triathlon, so I run a lot and I have run in a lot of different shoes. It pains me to see a great shoe continue to spiral downward. The Hoka Clifton 1 was hands down, the best running shoe ever made. Truly ground breaking. Light as a feather, fast, that sweet soft cushion. Then Hoka was bought and here came year after year of changes to what was perfection. Just stop. Stop overthinking things. Stop change for the sake of change. Grab one of the originals and duplicate it. I have a pair I will send you if needed. Surely the formula for the midsole material and design specs are in a safe somewhere? All you have to do is read a review from your original fan base to know what I'm speaking of. If you feel you must keep messing up a good thing, start a new line and call it " We Overthought it Again 1". Then you can come out with "We Overthought it Again 2" and so on. That way everyone can be happy. The Clifton 3, it's Just OK. 2.5 stars. Bring back the original, exactly the way it was. We will buy them. If you get it right, I will buy 20 pairs.

Two things preventing this shoe from being my all-time favorite, and unleashing its potential. I'm a former college runner, and now run 50-70 miles a week, and surrounded by a lot of hills and pavement. 1.) The Clifton is ALMOST there with an appropriate toe box width. Just a bit wider along the outside (5th metatarsal region) and we have it made. The outside of my forefoot, and 'pinky' toe feel like bleeding less than a mile in. 2.) NO WAY the shoe is even a 5mm offset. -5MM offset if anything. Unless you put heel inserts in. Anyone prone to Achilles issues should definitely avoid the Cliftons.

Remember, more room is better than less room! People with narrow feet can adapt more qualitatively than those with wider feet. Then throw a 9-10 mm offset...dang. Now we're talking.

I have tried just about all the name brand sneakers and really Mizuno is what I settled on. Then I began to read about Hoka sneakers.
Ran the Kiawah Island half marathon on December 10th and my feet were hurting me the last two miles of the run.
I decided to try HOKA sneakers so I went to Fleet feet in Mt Pleasant.
BEST SNEAKERS I HAVE EVER RAN IN (distance)!! HOKA IS THE BEST BAR NONE!!

Switched from Bondi to Clifton, both great shoes. Clifton has a little less cushioning but still very comfortable. I run between 20-25 miles a week, haven't had any problems with either shoe! I probably stay with the Clifton in the future.

I have put about 300 miles in these. I primarily used them for cross country training and road 5k's. They have been great on the trail and roads. The outsole feels like I am running on a cloud. The weight of the shoes are amazing considering the amount of cushion. The Cliftons are great for people who worry about shin splints and need the long mileage. Although the shoe overall is amazing, the durability is a little weak after having these for a solid 4 months of training. The outsole deteriorates quickly on the treadmill. Overall the shoe gets a 5 star rating for comfort and weight.
